What is the story about the first husband, your grandfather? Is this the Bubbie that my mother called "Big Bubbie"?
I spoke to Aunt Eva last year about family history. What she told me was that although it was widely believed that her father, Joseph, had died of the flu during the epidemic in Chicago, it was actually a heart attack that killed him at the age of 43. It did take place in Joliette, Illinois, during the time of the flu epidemic. His mother lived in Chicago. He is buried in Illinois because the authorities would not allow the body to be brought back to Massachusetts.
Do we know the name of Mollie's second husband?

How tall was Auntie Hannah?
My guess is that my mother was about 5'4", but Zena will have a better sense of this.
Boy, the man in the picture remains a no-name nebish. I mean, he was married to Big Bubbie Molly, can't we give him a name and a kind word or two? Who was he?
Do we know more about Great Granddad, her first husband?
According to Aunt Eva, Joseph was a learned man and a Hebrew teacher. My Dad told me when I was growing up that he traveled raising funds for a Jewish hospital.

Do not remember his name but he was a cute man. My cousin Jackie and I would go over to our Bubbie's house sometimes after school and I remember him being very nice and kind. If that's a nebish I will take that any time. How about the name Jake. He looked like a Jake.
Penny you are right about seeing Bubbie in the nursing home.She died a few months after I was married. It was the summer when we had the polio outbreak.I think she was in her 70"s.
The previous comment was from Auntie Saundra. She told me earlier this morning that Big Bubbie died in 1954, a few months after Auntie Saundra & Uncle Bob were married.
What's a nebbish? I guess it's not a desirable thing to be called.
