Wonderful visit
We had a wonderful time visiting Jenny & Chris in Redding these past few days. We celebrated Jenny's new job with a lovely dinner out. Jenny & Chris's new house is very nice and it's great to see them so happy in it. Unfortunately we were unable to avoid the dreaded licorice ailment, even though we did not partake in any licorice! Greg was "beseiged" 1:00 AM Sunday and the day was pretty much a loss for him. Thankfully, he felt well enough to come home yesterday and today seems to be doing much better. The rest of us took the opportunity to catch up on a couple movies. Has anyone seen House of Sand and Fog? What did you think about it? I was very disappointed.

This licorice disease is one powerful bug, but it seems only boys are susceptible. Yeah, I know, men have weaker immune systems and all that, but it just ain't fair.
Haven't seen Sand and Fog, but did see Fog of War, a wonderful documentary of Defense Secretary under Kennedy and Johnson, Robert McNamara, lamenting his role in the Vietnam War. It's an historic eye-opener, and a poke-in-the-eye to those favoring our invasion of Iraq. It's dour, but riveting.
Anybody see Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 diatribe? I haven't yet, but can't wait to see it. Probably tonight or tomorrow.
Fog of War (see my previous comment) was made by the wonderful documentary film maker Erroll Morris. He is a stylist, no "Ken Burns" PBS slow pan filmmaker. He makes odd films of peculiar people. "Doctor Death" was about a maker of execution devices and a holocaust denier (how's that for irony?). The best of his films create an intimacy with people who are out of mainstream norms and make you reflect on your own place in the world. By the way, good sites for looking up movies (info. and reviews) is imdb.com and www.rottentomatoes.com .
