Arriving in DC.

Flew into Baltimore, rented a new 2005 Chevy Malibu, and drove easily into DC this morning by 9:30. Parked in a lot next to the Club Quarters Hotel, which is just a few blocks from the White House. The parking lot was like a bad sci-fi movie, what, with big machines tearing up old surface with horrendous noise and dust creating an unbreathable fog as we descended (see photo). Went to the National Museum of American History which was, well, headache producing with its constant drone of spectacle.... just too Disneyish (see photo of evaporated milk maker), and then to the National Archives where we saw the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. We are heading for Lebanese restaurant not far from our hotel when I finish this post. Caryn called us last night. We will see her and Bob for brunch tomorrow morning. Nice WiFi connection in the hotel.
