1920 Census

This is a little hard to read, but nonetheless, it is the census of 1920 which lists family members, their age, relationship, and place of origin (birth?). Part of the information that Janis has obtained in her research. This is all so fascinating.

Let me reiterate, I did not mean to cast aspersions in my previous comment, to you or the research you have done. I hope you can understand having heard conflicting information from my grandfather made me just want to know how you came to the conclusions you have. Also, when I told my Dad what Uncle Irving had said about the name being misspelled as Ratut at some point, he (my Dad) totally blew that off as inaccurate. Knowing that you all have found the documents you have really helps clear things up.

I find the whole subject so fascinating. Obviously, the origins of the family were not that interesting to that generation after they arrived in this country. Maybe they were so focused on assimilating, becoming American, talk of the old country wasn't encouraged. That's purely supposition on my part. I just don't understand how it is that we don't have better information from those that are still living. I'm anxious to learn what else you find out.
