I think you should all know that Elaine was operated on yesterday for Pancreatic Cancer. Hopefully she will be alright. She is at Westchester Medical Center in N.Y. Uncle Bob has survived it and hopefully the same will be true for her. For those of you that do not know her she is a terrific gal and very talented. She makes beautiful pottery. We all love her very much in the family and I am sure that Bob would like to hear from you., His cell phone is always on and I will give you the #914-217-3000. Actually, we don't yet know what kind of cancer it is, pancreatic is a possibility but nothing has been confirmed yet. I don't like to speak for anyone but I think it would be better to call and leave a message on their home phone rather than have Bob receive a lot of cell phone calls right now. You're so right that family support is something special and it definitely gives strength in times of trouble. I know Bob would appreciate hearing from family.
In addition to sending a personal message and calling, I'll be happy to print a copy of all the comments you wish to leave here for Bob and Elaine and mail it to them.
I got word yesterday afternoon that it is duodenal cancer. They believe they got the entire mass however there were lymph nodes that were positive. Elaine has a difficult time ahead but she's tough and I'm planning on her beating this nasty monster.

Please pass along to Elaine and Bob that she is the focus of our discussion on the blog and that all of us wish her a speedy recovery. I'm sure many will send cards and flowers, but it might be good for her to know that the extended family as a group is concerned and wishing her well here, too.
It isn't just Elaine and Bob who need our support either, it's Uncle Milty, Kathy, and all of Bob and Elaine's brothers, sisters, and kids who need to know that we are with them as best we can. Most all of us remember the feelings of pain, frustration, powerlessness, anger, sadness, and hope that family members experience with cancer and its treatment.
It's been over twenty years since my brother, Jerry, died of lymphoma (he would probably have survived with today's treatments) and my sister, Zena, has overcome breast, bone, and cervical cancer and still going strong.
So to all of Uncle Miltie's and Bob's family, hang in there, it's going to be rough for a bit, but we're here when you need us, and it will get better. Keep us informed on how things are going and what you are feeling. We need to know.
