Have a great trip, Scott. What will you be doing in London? Symposiums? College professor kind of stuff? Will you have time for sight-seeing?
It's kind of a junket, really. We send students to study at Regents college, so once a year we get invited to this affiliates meeting. I've never been. They provide room and board for a week and have one or two days of meetings and a lavish dinner. The rest of the time we are on our own. So I'll have a good three days to sight-see, mostly art museums. I took Ben to London about five years ago, and we covered the major sights which I don't need to revisit. Looking forward to some warm Guinness in some out of the way pubs.
Though I worried about being torn asunder by G-forces as the jet plane broke apart in a grand spiraling nose dive, I have made it safely to London. Despite the seats made for midgets and the neighbor rustling her Sari while I tried to sleep, the trip was uneventful. Air India. I've never seen so much luggage.
I'm staying with colleagues in a rather spartan dormatory on Regents College campus. Odd, what, with young women padding around in pajamas all the time, but could be worse. The campus is in Regents Park pretty close to the center of London.
Spent most of today in the Tate Modern Museum (that Penny was refering to). It is a converted WWI era power station on the Thames River. Large enough to have been a Zeppelin (sp? -no spell checker, I'm lost without a spell checker)hanger.
Finding my way around the city and the famous London tube. It's been raining off and on since arrival, but in the forties, so it seems rather balmy.
Tommorow is a day of meetings. Fancy dinner on Wed. night. Most of Wed. and Thurs. to hang about.
Unfortunately, I'm unable to post some of the pictures of cute pubs and such since I'm using a college PC. Maybe I'll figure it out by the end of the week.
Five hour time difference, so while you all are still asleep, I'm about to have lunch. Right now, it is closing in on bed time and you all are drifting home from work.
