It's 10:00 Friday morning, and I'm being a lazy bum. I have the very good fortune of having Fridays off. Every morning this week I've wished I could stay in bed another hour, don't know why. I suspect it's the cold, grey January weather that makes me want to hibernate. Plus, I've never been much of a morning person, I just have had to learn to function like one. So much to my great delight, I stayed in bed until 8:45 this morning. *Yawn*, *stretch*, that felt good!
January is usually grey in Bakersfield. We are situated at the south end of the huge central valley in California, close to mountains on 3 sides, so the famous "Tule fog" tends to sock us in during January. Highs have been between 48-52, which is not terribly cold compared to the northeast where we all grew up, but it's not California beach weather either. This weather pattern gets some people down, and I hear complaints. It doesn't bother me, I kind of like it. Feels enough like winter to know we're having 4 seasons, without the bitter cold and inconvenience of navigating in snow. Usually by mid-February, we are fully into Spring weather, and everything starts blooming. It's really pretty.
When the weather warms enough to have the windows open, I'm ready to start the renovating/redecorating on my bedroom and bathroom. I want to be able to open the windows when we have it painted. We have the crank-out type of windows, easy to paint them shut if the paint doesn't try sufficiently.
So what's doin' with everyone? I miss hearing from you.

Winter finally started here in the North East. just got in from snow-blowing the neighborhood. We only got 8 inches or so, but closer to Boston and New York City, it was a blizzard. Good ol' Northeast. Ya gotta love it. Sittin' by a fire drinking some wine while the wind and snow blew around outside, that was our last night. Crisp, clear blue sky today. Cold. Lovely. You Florida and California folks should move back to the Northeast and enjoy weather for a change.
