Springing into a new week.

It's a new week and spring has broken out here in Albany (more like summer). The beehive is gone, the yard is raked, the new grill is sitting proud (if not slightly embarrassed) on our patio (a cement slab left from a former garage), the patio furniture is cleaned of mildew stains, and most of the window screens are down. Ten bags of leaves and winter debris line the side of the house. Raking is always harder than expected, but this year I wore work gloves before I got that nasty blister.

The start of a new week, now eleven days after Ben's mom died, feels a bit like coming out of winter hibernation blinking into the warm sun. We're still in the midst of catching two cats that are MIA in Carol's sprawling loft space (a 100 year old factory converted to artists studios and living spaces by Carol and I in the 1980's).

I am re-doing Ben's college financial aid info. (FASFA and TAP for those in the know). Ben will be heading to college come September. It will be a good time for him to be starting a new life out in the world. Manhattan will be his new home. I'll be envious.
