Well...no one likes their birthday better than me. But even I couldn't have engineered the turn of events that afforded me 2 birthday parties from my family this week!
My birthday was Tuesday but since Whitney's in college and the new quarter started this week, and she was starting a new class that night at 6, I suggested we do it a different night. With everyone's different schedules factored in, Saturday was the best day. Greg doesn't like to let my birthday go by completely without any celebration at all, so he planned we would go out to dinner on Tuesday night. Meanwhile, he got pretty sick with an upper respiratory nastiness last weekend and that kept him from completing his mystery errands (birthday shopping). So on Tuesday Greg, Chris, Jenny and I planned to go out to our favorite Chinese restaurant, and happily as it turned out, Whitney would be finished with class by 7 and she and Joshua would be able to join us. Everyone was not ready for the full blown party so...tonight we also had a BBQ cooked by Jenny, Joshua and Whitney here at home. Jenny made my favorite lo carb cheesecake for dessert. AND my wonderful husband gave me tickets to see Bob Dylan when he plays here this week on Wednesday, complete with dinner out at a Cajun place we really like. I'm so excited!
Other gifts, in case you are interested, are a new outfit (jeans and a top) from Joshua & Whitney and a photo abum entitled "Bubbie's Babies" on the front from Jenny & Chris & Jillian.
We had a great time this evening. I am blessed with a great family. Now that April Fool's Day is over, and Jenny made it long enough to get paid extra for being a long-term substitute, Jillian is now permitted to make her arrival. Of course, her due date isn't for 13 more days. Jenny was 4 cm dilated last Monday. But babies come when they are ready and who knows when that will be??

Update: Jenny is now 5 cm dilated and 75% effaced. Her doctor is amused because when he asks if she's had contractions, she's not really sure. He think she might be one of the lucky ones who has an easy labor and does push, push, baby! Wouldn't that be nice??
We do. It's about 8 min. from here.
The Dylan concert was great. He performed for 2 hours and did old stuff, new stuff and in between. I will never understand though, why so many people pay good money for a concert ticket and then spend the whole time up and down the aisles either getting beer or getting rid of it.
